Description PhD and Doctoral Gowns are black and have coloured panels stitched into the front facings. Facing colours vary according to institute. The gown has long oblong sleeves with an opening at the wrist which the hand goes through. Black ribbon ties at the front can be used to help the gown sit better on the wearer. Occasionally students can wear a masters gowns with separate PhD or Doctoral fronts. The fronts come in small medium and large sizes and should be level with the front hem of the gown.
